Starting in 1764 they whole Mozart family went on a long concert tour. From Munich, to Paris, London, Amsterdam, Zurich and back. Visiting many courts and cities and this tour lasted almost three and a half years. This wasn't as glamorous as it might sound. The travel conditions were difficult, they had to wait for invitations, never were sure if they were being paid at all and they suffered many dangerous illnesses.
Mozart achieved a lot of fame during his lifetime but never became wealthy nor had he any financial security. He would go down in history as one of the greatest composer who ever lived. You might know compositions like: Die Zauberflöte, Requiem and Don Giovanni. Or listen to the "Turkish March" on this page. |
