Scipio Africanus

Picture
Date: 202 B.C.
Although his real name is Publius Cornelius Scipio, most people will know this man as Scipio Africanus. Scipio is viewed as one of the best military commanders and strategists of all time. He got his nickname in 202 B.C., after defeating another world famous general: Hannibal Barca.
At the Battle of Zama he heroically defeated Hannibal and returned home in triumph with the agnomen Africanus.
Did you know?
Hannibal used elephants in his army? They weren't very effective, but it really scared the enemy!
