This is certainly the most important minfigure of this website! Ole Kirk Christiansen is the founder of LEGO®. Ole began his life as a carpenter in the small Danish town Billund. When his business burned down after his sons played with fire, Ole rebuild his company but it suffered during because of the Great Depression. That's when he decided to make wooden toys and gradually that became a succes. He called his toy company LEGO, founded on August 10th, 1928. The name LEGO is a combination of two Danish words. The word "leg" (play) and "godt" (well) . So LEGO actually means play well!

During the 50's plastic became more and more a way to produce toys. Ole and his son Godfredt saw an opportunity to make a new kind of toy: a stackable brick! They made it, using an injection-molding machine. In 1958 they patented the LEGO brick as we know it today. In 1978 they released their first minfigures.
