Sherlock Holmes is a fictional character from the novels written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. These novels are about a brilliant private detective called Sherlock Holmes who solves all kinds of mysteries together with his friend Dr. John Watson. Not only is Sherlock a very smart man (he is a chemist, great musician and knows a lot about human anatomy), he is also capable of drawing big conclusions from the smallest details using skills like observation, logical reasoning and deduction. The first story of Sherlock Holmes is published in 1887. It's called "A Study In Scarlet". The story is about Dr. Watson's background and how he and Sherlock became friends. At the same time, Scotland Yard calls upon the help of Sherlock to solve a murder mystery in the town of Brixton. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle has written 4 books and 56 short stories about Sherlock Holmes. |
