He was a Greek king of the island of Ithaca, fought along other Greek heroes like Aghamemmnon, Nestor, Achilles and Ajax at the Trojan War. He is renowned because of his smart thinking and outwitted friends, enemies and gods.
According to Homer, around 1200 B.C., after winning the 10 year Trojan War, it took Odysseus another 10 years to find his way home to Ithaca. The Greek god Poseidon was out for revenge after blinding his son Polyphemus. A giant, man-eating cyclops! The Greek God of the Sea caused multiple storms trying to keep Odysseus away from home. During this 10 year journey, he has lots of adventures. |
