Mickey Mouse

Mickey Mouse is a cartoon character, created and designed by the American animator Walt Disney.  Walt got the inspiration for this figure after seeing a dead mouse on the floor at his office in Kansas City.  
Although "Steamboat Willie" wasn't the first movie where Mickey appeared, it was the most successful and one of the first cartoons with sound. Something unique during the 20's. 
The movie premiered on 18-11-1928 and even his girlfriend Minnie appears in this movie.

Steamboat Willie is considered to be one of the greatest and influential cartoons of all time and was the beginning of the hugely successful Walt Disney Company. 
Nowadays The Walt Disney Company has produced thousands of comics, books and movies. It has theme parks and a revenue of over 55 billion dollars. They even own the rights of populair cinematic universes like Star Wars and Marvel. 
Did you know?
Mortimer was Mickey's original name. Disney's wife Flora thought that was a horrible name and that it sounded unfriendly. So Walt changed it into Mickey.
