James Bond

Picture
Date: 05-10-1962
The British secret agent James Bond and his codename 007, his superior M, the inventor Q and the secretary "Miss Moneypenny". You probably heard of them all or seen one of the more than 20 movies. But did you know he was originally a character from the novels of Ian Fleming?
Before Fleming started writing his James Bond novels, he was a personal assistent of a British Secret Service Admiral during World War II. That's probably where Ian Fleming got a lot of inspiration for the character James Bond. Some claim that the early novels of James Bond are even based upon true stories.
In 1953 the first James Bond novel was released: Casino Royale. Although this book wasn't a bestseller, his next books became more and more populair. When the American President John F. Kennedy called "From Russia With Love" one of his favorite novels, sales went through the roof.
On October 5th 1962, the first James Bond movie was released called "Dr. No" with Sean Connery as James Bond. This was the start of the longest lasting movie series of all time and a number of actors played the part of the British secret agent. Not just the movies are extremely populair, their soundtracks are almost always a huge hit in the music charts!
Did you know?
There are even people who claim that Ian Fleming was more than a personal assistent and that he based 007 upon his own adventures!
Location:
Ian Flaming wrote his James Bond novels in his "Golden Eye" villa, Jamaica.
