Marco van Basten

Multiple national championships, UEFA Cup Winner, winner of the Ballon d'Or and the list goes on. Marco Van Basten is considered to be one of the greatest football players of his generation, if not all-time. In 1982 he made his debut a 17 years old at Ajax and immediately scored a goal. A impressive career will follow with probably the win of the European Championship 1988 as the ultimate highlight.
Because at this championship, the Dutch National Team was amazing. Next to Marco Van Basten were players like Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard and Ronald Koeman. Marco scored the winning goal at the semi-finals against the Dutch nemesis Germany.
On 25-06-1988 Van Basten scored the last goal in the final match against the Soviet Union, securing the European Championship. 
By securing this title, Marco made himself immortal for the people of the Netherlands! 
At the age of 30 Marco van Basten was forced to quit his career due to his many injuries. By then he hasn't played any matches for nearly two years because of surgeries and revalidation. 
In 2003 Van Basten returned to football als a coach of Ajax, the Dutch National Team, Heerenveen and AZ.
