Albert Einstein
Date: 26-09-1905
Albert Einstein is one of the best and brilliant physicists who ever lived. Maybe even the greatest of all time. He was born in the town of Ulm, Germany. At school Einstein already excelled in math, science and physics but horribly failed at languages and history for example. People think he might had dyslexia.
It was difficult for him to get a job. In 1901 he got one at a patent office in Bern, Switzerland. His main task was filing patents. This job was boring and left him much time to think, fantasize and experiment about the way nature works through his famous "thought experiments".
These thought experiments eventually led to the "miracle year" in 1905. It was in this year (Einstein was only 26 years old) that he published four papers that changed the scientific world forever!

These theories are the Brownian motion, the special theory of relativity and the discovery of photoelectric effect. For this last one he even won the Nobel Prize in 1921.
But the most well-known theory is about is formula "E=mc²" which he published on 26-09-1905. This equation led to the start of the nuclear era. After this miracle year, Einstein became world famous. He got a job as professor at the University of Berlin but fled to the United States in 1933 after Adolf Hitler came into power. Einstein was Jewish and not safe in Nazi-Germany. There he became a professor at the newly founded Institute for Advanced Study at Princeton. Albert Einstein would become a US citizen and he remained at Princeton until his death in 1955. |
Did you know?
Einstein himself thought that Isaac Newton was a way better physicist because Newton actually brought his theories into practice by experimenting.
